This puzzle combines a series of modding concepts. It starts with a Rubik's Domino (a 2x3x3). It was bumped (see the concept of the Bump cube, aka Mirror Cube). This gave it the shape of a cube. This shape was not implemented perfectly but curves were included in the shape.
