This is not the first Pocket Cube in shape of a trigonal trapezohedron (aka Rhombohedron). The first was the corner rhombohedron. The inventor reimplemented it together with this new variant. See image 4 for a comparison.
The difference is orientation inside the shape. In the corner rhombohedron the 2x2x2 is positioned on the sharp corner. In the variant shown here it is positioned on one of the triagonal sides.
