Five intersecting circles in a pattern based on the recently discovered aperiodic tiling.
Only weeks before this puzzle was presented, the first aperiodic tiling using just a single tile, the so called Einstein problem.
The inventor transferred this new tiling into a puzzle of intersecting circles.
After sketching the puzzle he realised that Vindemiatrix and OctoCrystal (see the seperate entries) have common elements. For a long time he tried to connect these 4 circles together to get something beautiful and symmetrical. But nothing worked. In different combinations, something awkward and crooked turned out.
In the end, he gave up and decided to formulate the problem differently. He decided not to pay attention to the appearance. He tried to arrange the circles in such a way that at certain turns of the outer circles, the inner circles would "open".
