A classic six-colour sticker-mod for the classic Platypus corner-turning puzzle.
This is a hand-sticker mod for the classic corner-turner Platypus (Yusuf Seyhan) that uses six plain colours to give a classic puzzle look and maximise the complexity of the solve with the minimum number of colours. The orientation of the small triangular corners are relevant to the solve, just as the large hex faces have been on some of the original puzzles. This distinguishes the mod from the earlier Stickered Tripod (Juan Antonio Munoz Frias) that also took the classic-look path, and matches the complexity of the Platypus Weenicons that uses cartoon pictures to show the orientation.
A Platypus Weenicons was the donor puzzle, ideal as it does not have the raised playing card symbols of the original Platypus and the Supreme and Ultimate variants.
Jaap's Puzzle Page for the Dino Cube calculates the number of positions for the puzzles in the Dino / Rainbow / Platypus/Jackpot / Twistball families of puzzles, and as all pieces unique and orientation of centres are relevant to the solve, the number of positions is the same as for the Twistball Flower at 12!/2 * 3^8 / 1 = 1,571,364,748,800. The page also includes an algorithm to rotate the last small triangular centre.
