Hi everyone!
Here is a puzzle I wanted to create to complete the platonic crazy puzzles series. I had to make some tricky compromises to achieve this design. The result is beautiful but the puzzle is very unstable and some parts are really fragile.
I consider it as a prototype. I will probably make a second version of this design because this physical version showed me precisely the weaknesses of my design, however some parts will remain a bit fragile.
Something I wasn't thinking about while designing this puzzle, is the fact that this geometry allows jumbling moves. So it makes this puzzle even more crazy!
About the circles, they are all fixed. For the second version I will try to make something where it will be possible to choose between free and fixed circles.
For the color scheme I tried to make it the more logical for me. I made a "chromatic sphere" with a white pole and a grey pole.
The puzzle is made of 283 pieces, the size is the same as MF8 icosahedrons (Eitan's Star, Icosaix and Radiolarian), 100mm between two opposite faces, 66mm edge length, for a weight of 214g.
I hope you'll enjoy
You can see the video here.
EDIT:
See the final version here: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=32843
And find it in the marketplace.

WOW! you won't believe this, but I was thinking the other day if it was possible to make a crazy circle version of my favourite puzzle, Eitan's Star.
I guess it is. Well done. Beautiful puzzle.

OMG! That stickering scheme is beautiful I will steal it for any future icosahedrons that I buy.
The puzzle has a sort of neat "simplicity" to the look, I like that it's the 3x3 FTI analogue (e.g. stationary centers, edges, corners, + auxiliary pieces that arise from geometry). Hopefully the second design is a bigger success!

What a wonderful puzzle! I really hope you find the way to make it more stable. Congratulations!
P.S.- That's the color scheme I used for all my mass-produced icosahedrons

Every puzzle that you've been presenting so far is amazing. This one is certainly no less. Those jumbling moves are crazy indeed!
Despite the issues, this puzzle looks like it still turns better than some of my worst failures.
Also, the finish on all of your puzzles looks so incredibly flawless every time.
I just can't praise you enough. As I've said, keep up the great work!

Radio Canon equals DC2[F3 C1 E3 X9 T12][F3 E3]
Crazy Icosahedron equals DC2[O F3 C1 E3 X9 T12 Xa6][C1 F3 E3]
That means it has the same pieces as the Radio Canon but
- adds orientation to what were the central triangles.
- makes the core visible.
- adds the Xa6-piece (the triangles inside of the circles) which is totally new.
In short: Well done.

Thank you so much everyone, all those nice comments motivated me to achieve a better version

On the Eitan's Star the centers can move around the puzzle, so making a circle version of it will be harder than designing my "simple" Crazy Ico. Maybe it could be doable using the same method Greg has used on his Crazy Starminx.

Some people asked me about the color scheme I used on this puzzle. Here is an image with all colors and references.
