Hey forum,
This is my latest puzzle, Bram's Brick. As you may guess by the name, The puzzle was an idea by Bram Cohen.
It is a Dihedral based puzzle with two sets of 4-fold cuts of varying depths rotated 45 degrees from one another.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, I don't have a better camera available.

That's an awesome idea! I love how it doesn't change shape or bandage (I think)! I guess it's a "simple weird puzzle".

Nice! every cut is 180* only, except for the horizontal cuts which are 90*, yes?
Just like goomba said- its a simple concept, but really quite cool
But watch out Oskar, I think Bram is cheating on you

Beautiful! I'd love to see it modded into its true shape, the octagonal prism.

A restricted octagonal prism. Cool.

Very nice!

Hmm, doesn't look like it has 8-fold symmetry to me. This seems like the proper shape.

I would say so too. I guess 8-fold symmetry would mean that the top and bottom layer can be rotated by 45° enabling vertical turns?
Since that doesn't seem to be possible I like it this way.
However yes, it could be shape transformed to the octagonal prism. But I say this looks better.
It's great.

Great puzzle Eric. I watched part of the design process of this, and so it's very interesting seeing something going from a computer monitor into the physical world. It also looks like a great challenge.
