The Octanova is a hybrid of an octahedral Skewb and a (very shallow) edge turning octahedron. The edges have been split up into 10 mechanically equal parts, so they turn in 36 degree increments, and can stop at any one of 10 points.
This puzzle also allows special turns, in that one can turn the Skewb part 60 degrees and the edge groups can leave their orbits and switch to other orbits. This is not jumbling since the circles don't intersect, much like the circles on top of the Wheel of Wisdom don't.
The inventor called it Octanova because the cut patterns remind him of a supernova, and also because at the center of each 'explosion' around each edge there's a black hole.
The mechanism is classified as Rhomdo Transformer since it shares the cuts of a Skewb and allows additional moves when turned by 60.
Edge length: 85 mm
By removing the tips the puzzle can be transformed into cubical shape. This is demonstrated in images 7-9. The inventor names it NovaCube.
