Conjoined Cubes

Two 2x2x2s fused into one puzzle. They can be played both but not simultanously.

The Conjoined Cubes is a shape variant of Dave's Diamond. The inventor called it like this since it shows off the dual cube aspect of the geometry so well. With this variant, the cube that currently contains the switch can be turned. The cube without the switch is prevented from turning, and as with Dave's Diamond, the whole puzzle must be returned to its original shape (ignoring the colours) before the switch can be moved to the other cube.
Oskar van Deventer suggested the colour scheme, which does make the puzzle much more understandable. The inventor made a version with both cubes coloured, one in lighter stickers and one in darker colours, but that was insufficient to allow easy understanding of the puzzle.
The puzzle participated in the design competition during the International Puzzle Party 2019.
