Today this can be considered as one of Tony Fisher's classical Skewb modifications.

Another one that's simple in theory... but hard to visualize and make by hand. Tony Fisher invented this in the mid-late 1990's. It is a Skewb variation, parts are extended only. No truncation of the original parts.
If we follow the same logic, but apply to a 3x3x3 rhombic dodecahedron, we will get a Case cube.
Size: 55 x 55 x 115 mm
Weight: 274 grams

In 2023 a mass produced version hit the market under the name "Grid Skewb " which was legitimised after the fact.
Size: 30 x 57 x 57 mm
Weight: 70 grams
