This puzzle is very similar to a pentagonal domino although the latter one was designed by Scott Bedard. All pieces of the pentagonal domino are present. In contrast to the pentagonal domino the Star Puck has the shape of cylinder and shows a pentagram on its top an bottom faces.
Star Pucks were hand built for Adam by Jason Smith as casts from ABS machined prototypes he machined.
Solvingwise the Star Puck has some differences to its predecessor: The pieces attached to the central pentagons fall into two sets of 5 identically looking pieces. In conjunction to this the "corner" pieces here can almost arbitrarily positioned. This has another effect: The puzzle has more than one solved state.
