A face-turning elongated square bipyramid. Twelve axes, eight of them jumbling only.
As a sequel to the Sprout Tetrahedron (see the separate entry), the Lilac Octahedron is inspired by the Wildflower (see the separate entry). It has a total of 12 axes, including 4 four-fold corner turning axes (which are 2-fold turns with stored cuts in essence) and 8 jumbling-only axes. The puzzle gets its name from one of its scrambled shape, which looks like a lilac flower. See image 6.
This puzzle also shares some similarities with the Octacle, not only in appearance but also in scrambling and solving experience. Overhang bandaging will sometimes happen when two one-colour petal pieces meet. See image 7.
The geometry of the puzzle could be seen as a face-turning elongated square bipyramid at certain height.
The puzzle is SLA-printed and uses a screw-free mechanism.
Edge length: 75 mm
Weight: 109 grams
