The Offset Skewb which allows 60° turns.

The designer was inspired for this idea when he redesigned Split Jings Pyraminx. First he made a spherical analogue of this puzzle, see the separate entry for the Kaleidoscope Ball.
This entry is about the cubic version.
If he had designed the puzzle with large square centers, a lot of small parts would have emerged. In order to hide some small parts inside the mechanism, he shifted the cutting plane, so in the centers of the faces are not squares, but rectangles. Therefore it works like an Offset Skewb which allows 60° turns.
