A while ago, the designer was asked if he could make a 3 layered Solar Flare but he declined to design another prism. Seeing that most of his puzzles were icosahedra, dodecahedra, and prisms, he settled to make a cube-shaped puzzle. Eventually he fused both concepts and designed a cube with the cutting pattern of the Solar Flare.
Originally, it should bear the name Solar Cube, but after assembling it, it felt like a giant block in his hands, so the designer chose to go with the pun "Sun Block." Due to a naming conflict, it was named Corona Cube, three years before the pandemic.
