Above:Partially disassembled
The above is currently the only image for this item.
The first functional 5x5x5 ever, although the inventor never patented it.
This amazing creation is referenced in at least one edition of Jerry Slocum's book "The Cube" and in Christoph Bandelow's book "The cube and beyond" and in a german newspaper article about Christoph Bandelow, dating 5 Dec 1981.
All three credit Jürgen Hoffmann with creating a functional 5x5x5 out of brass.
According to the newspaper article it weighs ca. 7 kilograms.
It seems that Jürgen Hoffmann never patented his invention which allowed Udo Krell to become the real father of the mass produced 5x5x5s.
