This is a put-together-puzzle. Without the name "Rubik's" it would never have been entered into the museum. It consists of 9 pieces which all consists of three single cubies. Some of these are only connected by slim edges. Mathematically the puzzle is interesting because it includes a full set of "pseudo-tricubes", meaning it has all possible combinations of three cubes connected by faces or edges (but not corners in this case). These include the two standard tricubes, two pieces consisting of a bicube connected to a single cube by an edge, and five pieces with edge connections only. The cubies are coloured in red and grey. This imposes an additional challenge to the puzzle. There are 880 different ways to assemble the pieces into a cube but only three of them show the correct colour pattern.
