The Stone Skewb from the same designer was the first puzzle to which this textured spray paint was applied. That Skewb had the disadvantage that it could not be scrambled and there was no puzzle at all. For Stone Blocks the same principle was implemented on a Bump Cube (aka Mirror Blocks).
In this case the puzzle can be solved because the pieces can be differentiated by shape and do not need different colours.
