A DLI - A dual layer corner turning icosahedron.
This puzzle was the school finishing project for its creator Ola Jansson. It is equivalent to a Gigaminx (a face turning dodecahedron) except from a small difference which regularly comes with dual shape transformations of puzzles: The faces of this puzzle are equivalent to the Gigaminx's corners and vice versa. Only the corners of the repective puzzles have a visible orientation.
Although this puzzle can be viewed as a shape transformed Gigaminx it isn't. The spherical cuts of the DLI proove that this puzzle was designed and casted from scratch with the exception of its core.
In 2012 Grégoire Pfennig designed another version of this puzzle which can be seen in the 4th image. He designed it after a request of Claus Wenicker.
This version has straight cuts.
