This is a 3x3x3 transformed into dodecahedral shape. This is not the first puzzle in this shape. Special about this puzzle is that only two layers of the 3x3x3 are twistable in the solved position. Furthermore all pieces of the 3x3x3 ar unique.
This concept later became known as "ghosting".
