How about this for a beauty! They even show you how to build this one. It's funny, I have designs for a 4x4 "Fisher's" cube on my computer with every face twisted 45deg. I got as far as realising that it would need to be based on an eight way kernel, then gave up. Doh, wish I had realised it was a simple active extension of a Rainbow. I think Wayne's right, this is going to be one heck of a year for customs. :) Max.

That isnt a 4x4 fisher. Its a 4 layererd dino cube, or also you could think of it as a rainbow cube extension. see the pics on the puzzle reconstruction studio site

Tyler, I don't think you read my post?
("Fisher's" cube with every face turned 45deg)
ie like a fisher with all faces turned
I would like to see how you would make one, with all faces turned, by extending a Revenge? You would come to the conclusion I came to 6 months ago - you need 8 axes! I just didn't make the connection to the Rainbow cube, I didn't have one then. I now know how it should be built.

Pardon my ignorance, memory lapse, or what have you, but WHO are the folks at Recon, and WHERE do they show us how to build such a fine puzzle?
thanks,
- Peter

This Lattice Puzzle the most beautiful puzzle I have every seen! This is so....elegant! Unfortunately, as Okamoto-san explains, it is not a simple buildup of a Rainbow Cube. The corner tips require a pretty sophisticated design for them to work properly without falling off. You can sort of see it in his photos. I am in awe of his work. Just like when he came out with the Master Pyraminx... only more so this time.

I'm not sure whether to scream or jump up and down in joy, I could make it, I would make it, and probably still will, and again they beat me to it. Although beating me to suff isn't hard, I'm barely moving. Elegance in the extream, it is also worth noteing that another puzzle could be made that looked the same by combineing the turing motions of a skewb and a rainbow (dino). And another insanely complex build would be combine this and a skewb.
Hopefully they wont beat me to the 3x3x3 face turing octahedron, but if they do there are always more projects.

Yep, this is sort of a "Dino's Revenge" puzzle. Very nice however. Makes me wish I knew what kind of equipment these guys had in their back pocket to make sculpts like this...

Katsuhiko Okamoto is the puzzle builder, with some great images and new puzzles for sale!. The page is in Japanese, but you can translate it using Excite translator (copy the URL, click on the second radio button and then the big grey button).

Wow -- they beat me to realizing my old Diagonal Cube design :) and did a beautiful job at it too. This is an easy puzzle to solve but still fun. (Years back I wrote a computer program that simulates this puzzle.)

Guess, what Jaap, so am I. I have one picked out that's being designed. Won't reveal this one too quick just yet until it's done.

Jaap, your puzzle ideas page is an almost complete list. I think we would have to wait a long time to see something not related to one of your ideas. Mechanically that is, clearly there is a lot of scope for truncations and other shape mods.
Max.

Jaap,
How about moving the puzzle that is a Stella Octangula made from 2 Master Pyraminx up the list a few places :-) I'd love to see that one
