First mod of the year! It is brilliant! Posted for Anthony.... The attached photo is my latest transformation from a Square 1 - 'Dodecahedron' which, because of the challenge it presented, work involved and following two restarts I have named GREENHILL'S DODECAHEDRON. Hope you like it. Regards Anthony

In reply to Tyler -- How long to make
Including the two restarts if took approx 2 to 3 hours per day for two months. Of course this is the first one which included all the working out and setting up. In theory if I made some more they should be quicker.

Yeah, I'd love to see pictures of some of the oddball shapes it can take on too!
The solution would be mechanically identical to the original Square-1.

Thanks to all for the interest and comments. Here are 2 messed up photos (I hope). You could go on for ever getting different shapes as anyone with Square 1 knowledge knows. Hope they're okay. Anthony

Mental! I probably would have called it "Pentagon 1" ;)

A pentagon is a flat panel. Wouldn't suit. It think the current name is good.

I was a gag really.
Square 1 = Cube Pentagon 1 = Dodecahedron Triangle 1 = Tetrahedron Triangle 2 = Octahedron Triangle 3 = Icosahedron
If you made them all from Sq1 mechs.
You could even make the octa so it kept its shape.
Admittedly not a very funny gag!

Ahh yep, I see the logic now, except that the Square in "Square-1" doesn't refer to the shape, more that you have to get the puzzle back to Square-1 or starting position.
