Here is my latest (6th) Square 1 transformation. Hope you like it.

ImageImage

It is not a complicated transformation, but also, it is not as obvious as it first appears.

Other Square 1 transformations are -
Star Prism (Dec 2000)
Dodecagonal Prism (Dec 2000)
Square 1 - 2 layers (Jan 2002)
Star Prism - 2 layers (Jan 2002)
Greenhill's Dodecahedron (Dec 2002)

Hmm... pics dont show. Did you use the uploader? If so, i know the reason for error. Dont use SPACES in your image names any more... it seems the uploader wont post them.

I snatched the filenames from the image uploader, here are the pics anthony was trying to show.

Thanks Tyler.
Will have to try another as a test sometime.
Also for the incredibly quick response , we must have been working at the same time.
Anthony.

How can it turn because there are no cuts in the second row? Or am I missing something here? Please explain if I am. I think it's a cool puzzle!

I have pixed the images and posts so it will all work. Sorry about the glitch. I'll fix the uploader to remove spaces from filenames automatically.

But aside from that.... FANTASTIC WORK. Wow it's been an intense start of the year. I put it down to christmas holidays. We've all had some time to work on stuff no doubt. Looks like I'd better hurry up and release my new idea....

I'm assuming the center row has a diagonal cut but is only cleverly hidden in the picture by looking at it sideways.

Figuring out how a puzzle works by looking at just a picture can be a puzzle in itself...

Thanks to all for the interest and comments.
The cut in the middle layer -
if the white is the front face, the 'cut' runs from the FR edge to the BL edge.
This was my initial idea, just to 'lose' the middle layer cut from all faces, then didn't like the top and bottom remaining as eight pieces each so I transformed then into four. I then didn't think the cut looked right being off centre so further transformation was required to 'move' the cut to be on centre making the puzzle more symmetrical and to my eyes more pleasing.
I stil think the original Square 1 is excellent looking.
Anthony.
