What a fantastic idea !
When I watch the first photo, I can't understand about this puzzle's (real) shape.

I was just thinking this weekend about the idea of inverting all of the corners on a 3x3x3. Has anyone made something like that before?
That's a fun puzzle! Great job, Adam!

It would not be entirely unlike Alexander's Star, but the mechanism would be a 3x3x3, and the edges and centers would not be inverted. Like a 3D "+" symbol.

i was thinking i could do this with a 3x3x3 as well. in fact if i do this to my Columns Puzzle the puzzle would turn smoother and not ruin the stickers on the inside mechanism.
i have alot on my plate right now so i wont be doing the 3x3x3 version of this anytime soon. but it is in my to do list

A really nice simple idea. There was a 3x3x3 invert patent from way back. Invented by Irwin. I always wanted to try and make one:

It would be lighter and hard to turn though.

Too much work!
Why would you invert the centers? That would just make it unbelievably awkward.
My idea was to leave the edges and centers unmodified, so you've got more to hold on to. Like so...

However, that cube is not an edges only cube. It also has corners, and I think it looks really cool. It'd screw with some of my friend's heads which is more than enough reason to want one

yeah i was thinking of just the corners but you can also do the edges and leave the centers as the are. ill give it a try one of these days. it is alot of work though, but the outcome would be cool.

its impossible to do a complete puzzle as an anti cube. the mechansim doesnt allow it. actually it only allows 1 corner

Someone should try making a custom mechanism for the 2x2x2 to be completely inverted.

Wouldn't it be possible to invert all of the cubies in a 2x2x2 if the walls of the cubies were thick enough? But that probably wouldn't look impressive unless it was very large.

That puzzle looks the same as a Crystal cube without the center pieces.

The difference between my drawing and the crystal cube, besides the missing center piece extensions, is that the corner pieces are inverted, not shaved down, just like Adam's "anti-cubie" at the top of this thread. So it's still solved just like a normal 3x3x3. On the crystal cube, the corners are shaved down and the sides of the edge cubies are stickered directly.
