I woke up to these 2 images from V-cubes.

(covered the names and profiles to protect others from any attention that might not want)

Would it be proper to say these are teasers, or announcements that the 6b and 6 are coming soon?

And finally, the mechanism... I don't want this to start a KO discussion, but do you think the mech is different for the 6b? And what do you think they did for the 8?

(Hope I didn't break any rules by posting those images. It was posted to facebook 7 hours ago, so I assume it's alright)

Wow! I was only maybe expecting the retooled V-Cube 6, but a V-Cube 8?! SWEET!

I bet they'll have a similar mechanism to their V-Cube 4.

It's been a long wait, but I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Very good to see! Has any information been given about the mechanism of the 6b?

So far, I don't see any updates. I'm more interested in the V-8 mech... It seems to have more "gaps" if you will. While I can understand that it being a sample from the moulds, I can see why there would be gaps between the innermost centers. But to keep costs lower, I can see the mech being no different from the V-6 that is out right now.

My point is: Does the 8x8 contain a different mech from the patent, and does the 6b use the same mech that is clicky?

Being without contact to the company is fine, but I'd like to know how these compare to the patents, and the current puzzles they have produced. I personally want to see the 8x8 have a clicky mech, and the 6b as well. And while I'm at it, wouldn't it be easier to just change the exterior shape of the puzzle and not mess with the internal pieces? We can extend and then shave down the exterior and get what they pictured, but that would mean no improvements of the puzzle. Who knows, maybe it's a new mech, and maybe they'll make a 6a with adjustable cores and new mech as well so there can be a version 1 and 2 on the market.

Only time (and V-cubes) will tell...

I really hope you are right. The V6 is fun if you just want to solve a puzzle every now and then, but even with the pi mod that cube is not perfect. If they introduced the V6 with the same mech as the V4 it would be amazing. (Personally think the V4 never got the recognition it deserves due to a couple biased people.)

That being said is there that big of a market for pillowed puzzles?

For the 8x8 I'd say yes. For the 6x6, I have no idea. A KO company made one, and it was of very poor quality. It may just be me, but I think that KO 6b turned people away from the pillowed 6x6 concept.

My main hope right now is that the stickers are better than the V-4. I think V-cubes made a costly decision with the stickers that time. I had them start to wear after 3 solves. But I will agree, the mech for the V-4 is fantastic, but then being applied to a 6x6 makes it even better.
