Hello all!

I translated the part from my old manual about Megaminx - http://vk.com/doc185254069_237711722
I use another method to flip edges which too easy for understanding.

Principle following:
• I put the first edge through the L-layer, and I get out it through the B-layer.
• I put the second edge through the B-layer, and I get out it through the L-layer.
I put a edge to the "port" with wrong-color, and I get out it with correct-color.

I understand that anything new but can to whom it is useful.

This principle I use for last edges on the Rubik's cube.

I made a video in response to your edge-flip routine. There are a lot of ways to flip edges so I wanted to cover some of the logical ways I see for flipping them.

I don't say that it is the only way.
Besides, you misunderstood me and made operation on the solved side. In result you get the mirror case. Probably it confused you.

I looked your video again. It is really interesting.
I thought and I have a question: Was I correctly used the term "Flip edges" in my case? Or I had to apply other term?

I understood all flip-tricks which you showed.
Your flip-principle is based on direct and return movements. I use it now for solving Rubik's cubes without algorithms.
Consider that my manual for beginners.
I never before didn't devote much time to the analysis of edges in Megaminx. Now there will be an occasion. I didn't think that it is so interesting.

Thanks for the video, yes, it does clear up the mental process for how you constructed your sequences. You're right that I didn't understand that when you said "edges first" you were only talking about the last layer. Of course several of my sequences assumed that corners could be messed up anywhere so don't directly apply to your case.

You were using the term "flip" correctly. I was restricting myself to flipping without permuting but if you're going to permute the edges later there is no reason to preserver their permutation when flipping them. GuiltyBystander pointed out to me that allowing for permutation, you can flip two edges in only 6 moves.

First, observe that the [1,1] commutator F, A, F', A' affects two edges on the top and one on the side.

If you add B as a setup move and do:
B, F, A, F', A', B' you will get two edges flipped in only the top layer. The two edges that will be flipped are separated by 144 degrees.

If you want to flip two adjacent edges instead you can perform the inverse commutator with the same B setup move:
B, A, F, A', F', B'
