Hi All,
This is a fairly straightforward 'curved' truncation of a Rex Cube, but with many different stickering possibilities, I decided to go with the same colors I used on my Holey Skewb Xtreme, but already have plans to change this to a single color for each of the 8 'coned corner points', with each small square center then having 4 colors on them (hope that makes sense) I think this would make for an even more challenging solve.
Thanks :)

X-Rex

It's maybe a "simple" mod, but nice, very nice :D .

Cool. You did a great job of making the cut-in portion very smooth and shiny. It looks great.

Wow! Every time you come out with a new puzzle I know it will be fantastic. Now if you could do this with a 5x5, that would be great! Look forward to more puzzles in the future.

You're right.. it would look really cool with the tips all stickered one colour.

Interestingly enough, this is equivalent to a Face Turning Octahedron.

Also interesting, if you made opposite tips the same color (puzzle stickered in only 4 colors), the parts comprising each would remain separate (not able to scramble together). This would certainly make for an interesting solve, and a really pretty scrambled state.

Wow, thankyou everyone for all your comments.

Some preliminary work had to be done first on the 12 edge pieces to stop them from falling apart during truncation, shortly after starting it I left it to one side and went on to making something else. When I got back to it, I still wasn't convinced 'until the spraying stage' that it might actually look quite nice when finished.

My words.
Looking backwards the Rex Cube asked to be X-ed.

You took a puzzle with great cut lines and followed their theme to an even prettier result.

Great design and beautiful execution!

Dave

There could be an interesting mod to further add on to this.

Maybe Oskar could work his magic and make it so that the red cut can turn in 60 degree increments?

This doesn't sound feasible, because the edge pieces are larger than the petal pieces, but then again Oskar is Oskar. On the other hand, someone could make a puzzle where that turns in increments of 120 degrees, and that wouldn't require any piece shape changes.
