I was studying the Rex cube, thinking about making the X-Rex, when I realized that the cuts go to the corner like a dino cube. Then from a vague memory I remembered that the actual core is a dino cube that almost extends out to a full cube shape. Then I did some thinking. I concluded that the Rex cube is a dino cube that has curvy cuts extended outwards to create more pieces. Can anybody verify this?

Your analysis is correct. It's also correct to say something like "The Rex Cube is a Master Skewb without corners.".

It's also correct to say something like "The Dino Cube is the puzzle made out of only the edges of a Rex Cube or Master Skewb.".

Thanks for being the smart person to verify this. I am glad that I have finally gotten something right about twisty puzzles beyond what is obvious.

While there's no arguing that the solves are parallel in your comparisons, I would have to say the only "correct" answer comes from mechanism and intention, in which case the Re Cube is definitely just a curved cut Dino.
