 I remember when I first laid eyes on this puzzle, and then, somehow, I forgot it again.
I look at my puzzle collection, as pieces of art that I can play with, but this! This takes the art aspect to a whole new level  I could see this puzzle in my local museum, next to the other pieces of art. But hopefully I will get this in my own little "art" collection instead

Meffert is really on a roll right now.

I really like the golden one, but the purple looks a lot harder!

Would there be any solving benefit for having different coloured sides instead of all purple?

or does this puzzle make a cube shape in its solved state only? (referring to the large cubies)

Obviously, this is the "Corner Pocket Cube" as introduced here.

The pictures were visible for a short time only at the author's request.
Maybe, Justin can put them up again?
I solved the "3x3x3 3 Quads, 3 Stripes" that is closely related with the help of Andreas' (Nortmann) method.
This one might a bit easier because two colours are involved only.

I found '3 Quads, 3 stripes' via Google = Bandaged3x3x3 2013930080085E_3Quads3Stripes This is a bandaged 3x3x3.
I think that the new idea is to extend it to something that looks like a 2x2x2.
Pretty creative! :) and beautiful. I would buy it in a heartbeat, if it becomes available at a decent price.
Ordered in a heartbeat! :D

I tried solving it in a programm and let me tell you, restoring the shape only is pretty easy. But solving the puzzle with different colored sides is really not easy for me. I haven't tried looking for planned out algorithms and I don't know where to start.
It's crazy. So on the purple version I suppose the little cubies have to be placed so that they are solved and that will make it more difficult. Stickering the Purple would even add even more difficutly.

Thats exactly what I would want.

But I could just get the cube and sticker it harder once i master it in purple.

How does this differ from the 3x3 camouflage cube?
It looks very similar in approach.

Well the Camouflage cube is a 4x4x4 disguised as disproportionate 3x3x3. But this is a 3x3x3 Cube disguised as a 2x2x2 but with one corner consiting of small cubies that makes you suspicious about the 2x2x2 appearance.

It's a beautiful sculpture.

Wow this looks insane. I thought I could solve most puzzles that are mainstream until I joined this forum :D nice to know there are still challenges out there. I don't really understand what parts are bandaged or extended to make this. Can someone explain?

Someone posted this photo on rline's Twisty Puzzling Facebook page and it really cleared things up for me. This is made with the CubeTwist DIY Bandaged Cube kit. The large squares hang off the puzzle, obviously. This is the equivalent of extensions. So basically, there are three 2x2 blocks [blue, white, red], three 2x1 block [green, yellow, orange], and one corner on the 3x3x3 [not visible] that get get bandaged and extended to look like corners of a 2x2x2.

So since there are 3 of the small block pieces, there can be multiple solved states. A 6-color version would be more difficult, having only one solved state. The big block pieces cannot leave their faces since their bandaging involves the center pieces of those faces and therefore they cannot be interchanged. I think the big block pieces can be used as a starting point to orient yourself because of this.

Thanks very much Seth for the informative response :) so it would be possible to just not include the overhang for an identical solve , just without the shape shifting yes? (I ask because I thought I might sticker mod an old Rubik's brand into a bandaged cube and this looks like an excellent one to try)

This one might a bit easier because two colours are involved only.

Now that the puzzle has been mass produced, I've restored those photos.

Yes, the 2 colour version is much easier to solve than '3 Quads 3 Stripes', although I think it's still sufficiently challenging.

I'd rank the 4 coloured version closer to '3 Quads 3 Stripes' in terms of difficulty, rather than the 2 coloured version.

Here is a front view / back view photo of Andreas' 3 Quads 3 Stripes.

I judge this one really hard to solve.
We had a discussion on page 4 of this thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24452&p=305546

Here's my video for Mefferts channel- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CnW0DEyq9k
I think calling it just Pocket Cube was a bad decision. The original Rubik's 2x2x2s were Pocket Cubes so this just confuses things. "Corner Pocket Cube" (which I assume Justin is sticking with) was a great name with a nice snooker reference.

How big is snooker outside the UK? I enjoy the reference as an avid snooker fan but anyone else? :D

Pretty small I guess. I think the nationalities of the players in the world championships gives a clue to which countries play. I'm only guessing it was snooker, it could of course be pool which I believe is played more widely.

One of my favorite custom puzzles ever mass produced! Thank you. Sent my order right away.

I might have to change stickers though. From the video it looks like only the golden part glows. I was expecting both gold and red stickers glow, like in Justin's original thread.

Only the purple layers are loose for me. If you setup the purple layers to do a slice for the smaller 2x2 layers, mine is very tight and kind of 'skips' (ie 270 degrees of the rotation are fine and then 90 degrees are tight). I've tried to inject some lube into the mini 2x2 and it's helped a bit but I think it just needs to get broken in.

Any disassembly pointers?

I ordered one a while ago, and have had a tracking number for a long time now but the order still says "in process" so there is nothing happening shipping wise.

Is there any indication how long it will take for these to actually ship? Can't wait to play with it either!

I received mine.
It is soo fantastic. Yes, the big parts are loose and during very mixed up states it can get a little stiff. However I want to emphasize a lot about how robust this puzzle is nevertheless. Its nothing like a falling-apart-puzzle. And the quality seems very high.

This puzzle is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

I thought the exact same when I saw the pictures on meffert's. However by now I don't think I will bother anymore. It looks really neat nonetheless.

The concept has so much wit and style I thank you Justin!

I have received mine as well and want to support the positive remarks of alaskajoe.
It is as nice as I had expected. :D
The feeling is very stable and you get never into fear that something could fall apart.
I have got the red and gold version, because Justin's original looked so beautiful. (OK, metallic dark red stickers would look even more gorgeous  )

I have moved two posts from here to the Solving Puzzles forum.
