Hi,

not a sensation, but I wanted to try it out:
Stickers showing a QR Code (a 2D- barcode) on each side of a 3x3x3 cube.

If you sticker a cube carefully with not too much gaps between the pieces, it is still possible to read the code.
I used a V-Cube - this puzzle works very exact.

The pixels shown on the code are unfortunately not divisable by 3 in all cases: the resolution of the 2d code
depends on the lenght of the coded information. Anyway I managed it to find a fitting resolution for the cuts.

Because I had some faces with more, some with less text, the pixels are of different size.
This helps(?) solving it. To make it reasonably easier, I decided to print one side with blue stickers.
Knowing a little bit about the QR code structure, it might be able to find the right position of the pieces.
One issue will remain: the correct orientation of the centers.

This is a very cool puzzle. I was able to scan 4 of the codes by using my phone. I'm not exactly sure what what I scanned means, but it's cool.

This would be an interesting way to make an electronic lock or password. One could scramble the cube to get a position that they want to use as the 'combination'. Then remember the combination and set something up where you must scan that combination for it to unlock, say holding the 'solved' cube face up to a scanner that unlocks a door.

"As seen on the internet!" - Wow!

I like the rotating spherical menu on the top right of that page.

Unless I'm missing something, this cube was made before the one made by Frank?

Ooops! Sorry, I guess that's what I get for not reading all of the article! I just assumed the "As Seen On the Internet" meant they had seen it here.
