I know that there was discussion of an alternate method of building a Pyraminx Crystal in order to make it turn easier, but does anyone just have any modding tips for making their Meffert's Pyraminx Crystal not turn horribly? Is it just a matter of getting the tensions exactly right?

I have one, and I've adjusted the tensions on it a LOT, and the turning still isn't perfect. Even if you get the tensions exact, it still won't turn perfectly. I've thought about modifying the inner Megaminx (which tends to click when you turn it) to stop the clicking. I don't know if that would work very well though.

I, also, have done a loooott of messing with the tensions and I still haven't managed to get it to a place where I'm happy with it.

Aleh's hand built version (14 were made) is a bit smoother and more precise than the production version, but inherently the edges of this puzzle are a bit squishy due to the mechanism. Perhaps an inner sphere would add some stability, you might see if a clever designer on this forum could make one...

What are you suggesting? (Smiley of 'hmm......')

JasonSmith mentioned that he made the radiolarian 2 by starting from a deeper puzzle then going back to shallow. That method could be used for this I guess.

I think this would be a bad idea. This would create the starminx points and centers on the inside, which would make the puzzle catch more. It would also be harder to assemble.
Perhaps a solution would be to apply Tom's Multidodecahedron clicking mechanism into the puzzle to make the Brillic edges more stable.
