The Edge Turning Rhombic Triacontahedron (ETRT) collaboration between Greg and Claus was announced back in February. For a variety of reasons, it has taken me until recently to get the puzzle assembled and broken in. I made a long video of the assembly and break-in. There are links in the video description ("About" tab) so you can skip around to topics you want to view. The assembly takes some time but it *IS* fun.

The puzzle has an interesting geometry and jumbles. So far, I have identified two types of jumbling, but only one seems useful.

Stickering will be a big task, but I'm looking forward to the finished product. When faced with a palette of 36 colours for 30 faces, I tend to suffer from excess colour scheme analysis, so if someone wants to offer a colour scheme I can use, I will get right to stickering.

I think a warm to cold colour scheme would do nicely.

I skipped through your video by jumping 10 min intervals and it does take some time to assemble ! :P

Nice work and good luck with stickers !

I've finished stickering the ETRT.

I used a warm/cool colour scheme, with many neutral colours around the equator.

Great puzzle! It looks amazing.

Maybe this will prompt RubixFreakGreg to make a deep cut ETRT...

It would probably have over 10000 pieces... What would it look like?

What you're referring to is the Big Chop. Something designers have been trying for a LONG TIME.. Unsuccessfully unfortunately.

The big chop is a face turning rhombic triacontahedron. I was refering to a deep cut EDGE turning rhombic triacontahedron.

I've been working with the ETRT and I'm fairly well set to scramble and - hopefully - solve. I'll make a video at least of the scramble and post some pictures.
