Hi!

Nontrivial Pyraminx is an attempt to make a more difficult puzzle out of Pyraminx. Its tips are not trivially independent, but internally connected so that they can only turn together. Two of the tips are "fast" and the other two are "slow". Any tip can be turned, but the fast tips would turn 2 times faster that the slow ones. The rule is to always turn a tip together with the middle layer (else it would be as easy as Pyraminx).

The mechanism contains 10 gears, among which are 6-, 9-, and 12-teeth gears in a tricky combination :)

Idea of this puzzle was suggested by Evgeniy Grigoriev (grigr). He actually wanted that all 4 tips were turning with all different speeds, and that the tips were put into motion by the edges (thus the illegal moves problem would be avoided), but it was too much of a challenge for me :)

Fascinating idea.
Sadly one can ignore the challenge by moving the tips independently. It is like the Triamid. I found nobody to play with it the way it was meant to be. Everyone just disassembles it and reassmbles it in a solved position.
What are its measurements?

Edge size is 100mm, weight is still to be measured.

You could do a simple shape modification to make it so that when the tips 'look wrong' they block the other tips from turning. That would increase the challenge a bit.
