I don't think that'll be the final sticker scheme. It's WAY too simple.

Excuse me, I have to go make a preorder... back. Wow, that is great! Same truncated octahedron shape, but quite different cuts for a whole new look and solution.

That stickering is unusual and just four colours. Perhaps it is an alternate "easy" model? I would expect a per-face colour scheme, so - hopefully - 14 colours.

Does anyone know what this polyhedron is called? It looks like a off proportioned truncated octahedron.

And what is the turning geometry? It looks like there are 2 kinds of face turns... I'm confused.

I believe it's a shape variant of Timur's F-Skewb.

Would've liked to know about that before I ordered the black version :(

The black-body is still in pre-order status and I don't see the colour version listed anywhere yet, so you can probably still change your order.

I wanted to order one and see V.1 and V.2 in coloured plastic.
In black there is one version only.
Can somebody explain the difference?

The difference is the color scheme, it is the same puzzle through. The black one will probably come with 3 different patterns for one color, or 2 if the opposite faces are the same color but not the same shape.
Hope I explained it correctly :?

I notice that on Now Store there are two versions of the stickerless puzzle. Is the only difference the colour scheme?

Is one 14 colours and one 7 colours? And if so which is which? It would be good if this were all clear!

My dayan gem V arrived yesterday. It's a black-body version 1. Unboxing and review here.

I noticed that on hknowstore.com the stickerless v1 and v2 appear to be different only in color scheme. At another shop what they call v1 is the v2 at hknowstore, and what they call v2 is totally different, having only 2 colors on the square faces.

So do hknow and champions really have different v1 and v2 puzzles?

Now there is a stickerless V3 an V4. This is getting crazy.

Anyway, I received my black one which came pre-stickered with 8 colors. Someday I hope to replace the stickers with 14 colors. I need to figure out how to tighten it a bit because the smaller pieces pop out easily.

Aren't the stickerless puzzles different solving-wise compared to the stickered ones? I'm thinking this because of the thin piece in the middle of the scuare faces. Am I right?

100% agreed. At $32 each (translating to $36-$38 for me) we need to be clearly shown what's different about these 4 versions. Is it just colour? Something else? They all *look* like the same design. Come on Calvin, a little more info please? :P

If you look closely one of the new v's at hknowstore seems to be like the v2 of championscubestore, which have only 2 colors on the square faces, 3 are pink and 3 are purple. champions has a very clear diagram of the color scheme on their product page.

Can anyone actually explain what the difference between the version 1 and 2 is? I've just completed an unboxing video of the version 2. But before I release it and tell my viewers not to bother buying it, I want to be sure. I concluded, having both the black body version 1 and the stickerless version 2 in front of me, that there is absolutely no difference between them except for color scheme. They don't turn differently. They don't seem to scramble or solve differently. If there's no difference, this has got to be the biggest scam since...well, since forever. I'd love to be proven wrong. And yes, I looked at the champion store link.

No.

Well, I'll answer my own question now that I've emailed Calvin to ask directly.

There is absolutely no difference except for the colour scheme.

Unless you enjoy collecting the same puzzle with different colours, don't waste your money. It would have been super-nice to have been told this when they were released, and when people were asking to be told the differences.

Maybe some modder could buy this and make a F-skewb. I would try, but I can't buy it

Got mine today. My wife and grandson and I were at the frozen yogurt place having a treat and I was talking about what I had figured out so far. 4 types of pieces—edges, corners, little centers, and big centers. As I was going on, suddenly my wife turns to our grandson and says, "Are you paying attention to what he is saying, because I'm not, and the way he is talking it sounds like he thinks someone is listening to him." Our grandson looked over at me somewhat sheepishly as if to say, "I thought she was listening."

There is a fifth type... the wedge pieces under the square faces, that peek out between the two sides. Now, on a stickered puzzle, these are all the same colour, so they're interchangeable, unless you mark them. The coloured plastic versions of the puzzle do exactly that... the V1/V2 have 6 different colours for them, the V3/V4 appear to have 2 sets of 3 (pink and purple).

Yes! I eventually noticed that those pieces move independently of the rectangle pieces. I like it!

I also like the color scheme of the stickerless version 1. It is as standard as can be considering the number of sides this thing has.
