Yeah, yeah, I know. I've got too many unfinished puzzles. This is one I actually started a while ago, before my Hexaminx. It's been sitting on my shelf somewhat half forgotten. I had one of the old keychain Skewb Ball puzzles, and later found pieces to my lost Skewb keychain (which has the identical mechanism) that will be easier to use. I wanted to make a miniature Golden Cube truer to Fisher's original than the Meffert's version with its non-equilateral triangle piece. I had a lot of old scrap plastic that would be too thick to just extend the pieces along the cut planes, so what I did instead was pancake the plastic on top of the pieces and cut them into shape. It works nicely to make solid extensions. Like my Hexaminx, I plan to cap each extension with thinner sheet on each side to clean it up.

That will be seriously impressive if you can pull it off (which I don't doubt). :)

When you say mini do you mean it will be 45mm on a side like Tony's? Mine was 57mm which I classed as medium.

I haven't really been making it with any specific dimensions in mind, but I think the finished product will probably be around Tony's size. Or maybe I should make it 5cm even and call it minium? :D

That little skewb came from the set Mefferts used to sell of the Keychain Pyramorphix, Skewb ball, and Skewb. They're not being produced anymore, as far as I know. As a historical note, that set was probably my very first puzzle purchase besides a keychain Rubik's Cube I could never solve. The Pyramorphix sucked and literally broke after three turns. I still use a broken corner as a keychain. My sister had actually gotten me the same set years later for my birthday. There was the Skewb Ball but not the Skewb, which had been replaced by a mini Eastsheen 2x2, for some reason. The Pyramorphix keychain broke after three turns. Again.

Major bump, but I finally got to work on this again. Only have one more piece to add extensions and then I'll get to work on cleaning it all up. I'll have some pics up tomorrow.
