Hey Puzzle inventers!

I said inventers because I am adressing mainly the CAD/shapeways people with some experience.

I suddenly decided I need to bring this one puzzle to live that no one has ever made or spoken of as far as I know. Since I have never done a full design I am in need of some help.
I am not going to ask to many of the random beginner questions concerning tolerances and fillets and so on. I much rather just need someone to simply look at a couple of pictures showing 3D and sketches and tell me his/her thoughts.
I need to know if the puzzle as I designed it would work in general or if there are some flaws. I need to know if it is smart to cut big wholes out of a spherical core or if the pieces wouldn't just fall inside or be loose then.

So my questions don't require much expertise yet. Also note that the mechanism is really simple. Assuming I didn't already make major thinking flaws.

I do not want to post the whole progress and idea to the entire forum and world yet so I decided to ask for personal help. I also didn't want to just adress someone with lots of experience but instead wait and hope for someone to be interested in helping me.

I would much apreciate your interest and help. So please PM anyone who has some spare time to share.

Thank you in advance.
