I'm out at the moment, so I can't show any pictures but basically my uncle gave me an old cube yesterday and him and my Mum were arguing over who's it was when they were younger. Anyway, its got original packaging but it doesn't say Rubik's anywhere on it, does this mean its a knockoff and is worth nothing? Also, my uncle had written a couple words on the box too, would this reduce value to zero too? I'm not looking to sell, just wondering :D

One picture is worth a thousand words.
And two pictures are worth twice as much.

I apologize in advance to anyone who would be offended by what is written on the box.

Mmm...

Your uncle tries to write German (why?), but cannot spell "heil"

and that far after WWII.

No further comments. This war is long gone.
But I think the writing (and especially this writing) devaluates any value the box might have had.

It is a knock-off, but it's a high-quality knock-off. And boxed. Nice find.

I do agree that the writing makes me unwilling to touch this particular puzzle. My father, now 80 years old, was under German occupation for over 2 years in Soviet Union. The German came when he was over 8 years old, and he still remembers that time vividly.

Words like that is not a game.

There were thousands of these dirt cheap in the UK in the 80s. Later when I was walking around boot sales looking for puzzles I'd spot a cube, pick it up and just by squeezing slightly as I lifted it knew it was a rubbishy one of these. Bit of lube they turn ok but just had a horrible cheap feel. I doubt they are worth hardly anything.

Some years ago I saw a few of those boxes in a shop (a general store) in The Netherlands, very dusty boxes that clearly had been there since many years. Curious as I am, I opened one and to my surprise inside there was not a cube but a cuboctahedron, I immediately bought one, afterwards I regret not having bought them all.
