The Golden Cube is dated at 2002. Was this the first Twisty Puzzle to have a partially twisted solved state?

Tony, can you comment more on what led you to using a partial twist as the solved state? It's pretty creative. Was it original or did you base it off of some idea you'd seen before?

The cutter cube

One minute ago I updated the museum. The year 2002 is still given in that entry. However I added a line that the prototype was finished in 1999.
On his website Tony states that he didn't reveal the puzzle before 2002.
In most cases there are no differences this big. For the future I now came up with a new rule. In cases of doubt the year in which the puzzle is revealed counts.

A hint for everybody:
Everybody can make updates to the museum.
In theory my job is focused on reviewing and accepting those updates.

Sorry for the late reply but I only just saw this. When I am in a creative mood I will spend a lot of time just staring and gently moving a puzzle around in my hands. I am pretty sure it was the clicks you get between full moves on a Skewb that inspired me to do what I did. It certainly wasn't any other puzzle.
