Looks nice, and thanks for the attention on the stickers. It's worth it. (But yes, a sticker cutter is a great time saver).

Hunter, it looks beautiful! Well done indeed!
I do have a question - the way you have made it makes it look like the 2 face is not fully functional! When you turn it (3rd picture) the 2x4 face should be able to turn just the middle 2 cubies of a 2x6 but due to the pillowing it looks like this doesn't happen. Am I mistaken or is a true 2x4x6 not physically workable?

Correct me if I am not answering your question exactly but even though the pillowed face does reach up like that, it is still functionally the same as a 2x4x6. Is there another picture I could take that would help you out? Oh brother, these super cuboids are a mess haha

This is not really "true" but almost: http://twistypuzzles.com/cgi-bin/puzzle.cgi?pkey=3479Thank you for the clarification. In this instance are we using the word true as like...a proportional puzzle? Or like mechanically true? On a sidenote, this is incredibly difficult.

I was just asking for clarity. I really cannot even get this puzzle to its original shape! Talk about difficulty! I may have to dissassemble and reassemble it solved!

Watch Jon (aka SuperAntonioVivaldi's tutorials) on the 3x5x7 cuboid. It will solve the same way - it will be a Floppy cuboid with "brick tendencies" - it will be a fantastic solve. You will love it!!!

Haha I was only toying with the idea. Of course I will solve it.....eventually. And if there is one person who has helped me grasp certain puzzles, it is Jon. That man, is so great at what he does, and is equally as kind! I will certainly have to rewatch the video. Thank you for the words of encouragement

I suspect It's the extra bandaging from not being proportional that is making it so difficult?

I really can't see how there is any bandaging. Wouldn't it reduce to a 2x2 when shapeshifted in any case?

Quote: Hmmm. Turn the red (2x4) face 90 degrees. On a fully-functional 2x4x6 I would expect the blue (2x6) face to be able to turn, but it is blocked. That said, it's a lovely puzzle. Given that it's "just" a shape mod of a 4x4x6, perhaps you should reach out to Calvin, since most of the tooling and pieces would be the same as the 4x4x6?

I don't think a standard 2x4x6 works like that. Otherwise you'd end up with gaps where pieces should be. Awesome puzzle regardless!

I suppose we don't demand that of 1x3xN puzzles. The 3x5x7s that have been made are similarly constrained.

Joshua Bell wrote: I suppose we don't demand that of 1x3xN puzzles. The 3x5x7s that have been made are similarly constrained. That is not true! The 3x5x7 from Shapeways courtesy of Puzzle Maestro is truly fully functional: http://www.shapeways.com/model/515863/3x5x7.htmlIf you turn the 3x5 face through 90 degrees then the that face will take a slice out of the 5 columns leaving the edges free. You end up with some fantastic pieces sort of hanging in the air! Here's a pic of mine scrambled: The 2x4x6 is not fully functional in the same way because of the pillowing - it will still solve in a similar fashion but will not be quite so difficult because certain configurations will not be possible during scrambling. It will still follow the basic ideas mentioned by SuperAntonioVivaldi - it will basically be a floppy cuboid but will have the brick parities too. See my recent blog post for the summary of these ideas: http://www.puzzlemad.co.uk/2013/01/first-there-was-cube-and-then.html

No that would never be possible on any cuboid ( at least the ones that exist now). You also could not do that on a 3x3x5 , think about it. The mechanism would prevent it. This 2x4x6 is fully functional. You can also take a 6x6x6 and emulate a fully functional 2x4x6. Think a little bit about it how it would look like if the turn you sugest worked. You would turn the stickerless side of a piece to the top (white face)

Joshua, what you are saying would only actually be possible on a 1x3x3 "scramble cube". Those movement types really aren't possible on any conventional cuboid. Thank you for the compliment though

Yes, I guess the rule is that a on a traditional cuboid (not counting the scramble cuboids) a slice cannot rotate unless it is fully populated.
Is that true for the 3x5x7 linked above? My visualization powers are a bit rusty. Having pieces hanging out is, of course, possible (witness the absurd 2x2xN variants when scrambled) but one a slice is missing cubies it itself can't rotate.
The analogy on a simpler cuboid would be rotating a 4x6 face on a 4x4x6 by 90 degrees, after which 4x4 faces are blocked. (Argh, I wish my puzzles weren't in storage! I'm feeling rusty.)
