Ok so I am not well informed and into smartphones at all. My mum has a new Galaxy S3 Mini and there seems to be a problem.

Yesterday in the morning it just told her that it was downloading a firmware update. It has been downloading for about 34 hours now, with a total traffic of 2 GB since it started and still is just loading. She can't do anything. It's just a note in that update/ info/ pulldown menu.
Also she has to charge it all the time since the download apparantly kills the battery soo fast.

Is that normal? Kind of a big firmware update I would say. ??

Shall she just reboot and interrupt the download?

If it is new then it has a pretty big update to do. However 32 hours is way too long. My brother got an S3 a few weeks ago and off 4G it only took a few minutes. I'd try rebooting. If it messes up anything then you can always go to the store and get the software fixed.

Is it connected to wifi or is it using the phone network? If the latter, what is the signal strength like? Next to the signal strength bars, does is have a small 3G or an H (H is better, nothing is bad). Be careful here, you may get charged for all that data

No my mum is at home and the thing is connected via WLAN. She already checked that. The maximum possible download rate should be high enough to get 2 GB in short time. So it's either the service of the firmware that is all slow, or there's a bug. I guess I'll tell her to wait a little more and then either call the store instead of me or just shut it down for once.
