Hey everyone... I have some news for all of you... I will be going to residential care for a while in a few weeks... Sorry to hear this. I have a friend whose mom had Alzheimer's, so I can only imagine what you are going through.

We all care but I think people were uncertain how to respond. We don't know the details and it would be inappropriate to ask. All the best though.

But it's really like what Tony Fisher said. When confronted with something so personal, people find it difficult to find an appropriate response. I'm new to this forum, but I can already see members here are good virtual friends. We all share a common interest. But seeing a post like that, that is an entirely different thing.

Another update:

I have taken a look in and out of the residential care facility. They already have my paperwork and have given an expected date for my arrival: March 1st . Only 14 days or less. Need to say my good-byes. They said the usual stay is 12-18 months so I WILL be gone for a bit.

Looks like I'll be spending my birthday in there

And Garrett, if you can remember, I was the kid at a competition who almost passed out when I saw your gigaminx V1 (a little bit after you completed it) I was wearing a necklace with a shark tooth. And I have met you a few more times after that.

Well... The final word is: I'm leaving on Tuesday and I'm bringing all 18 cubes with me.

And I'm going to do my best out of this situation. I'll be on TP for the last few days so thanks for your kind words.

Yea, I remember! Sorry to hear that you are going away for a while. At least you seem optimistic and have your puzzles to keep you company for a while.

Well, today is my last day, and I'm leaving at 8:00 AM pacific time tomorrow.

Also, I made the smallest 5x5 in the world, and the package can't arrive until a day after I leave.

But it is 25 mm from corner to corner, and it does not require screws.

But aside from that I will do well, Thank you everyone.

Sorry for the bump, but I feel a status update is nessesary. So I've been active on the forum lately because I'm in the proscess of returning home! I should be out in June of 2012 and have made so much progress that it is hard to believe! So that is the status update and I it has been a long year and two months.

Hey everyone, I am bumping this old topic to say I am finally done with my treatment, and am home for good now. I've been waiting for this day and since it has come, I will help the puzzling community more now. And I've been staying up-to-date with the forum, so I have a decent picture of whats going on. I have only been able to go home for a few days, except just recently I had a 2 week vacation away from that place, and can be one with the community more often now!
