Has anyone else seen it yet? What did you think? I saw it in HFR 3D and really didn't like it that much. It just felt wrong all over. If you see this movie, don't see it in HFR.

So, Mr. Jackson has taken a children's (comedy) book half the length of one volume of LoTR (a masterpiece IMHO) and is going to create three 3 hour films from it? Does anybody see a problem brewing here? And this film shows the problem, with about half an hour spent in Bilbo's home, doing nothing in particular. I'll admit that the set pieces are good, but aren't a lot of the characters essentially just JRR try-outs for the big boys in LoTR? I give it 6/10, but this would have been 8/10 if it had only been 2 hours long instead of 3.

As far as the 48 fps - I don't know if this makes a difference, as I saw it at 24 in 2D, and it looked great.

P.S. As before, the best thing in this is Gollum. Give the boy an Oskar

I have to say I absolutely loved Lord of the Rings, and when I read they were going to make "The Hobbit" a 3h film trilogy, I was extremely happy. Until I saw the movie. Then, I was EVEN HAPPIER.
I just loved it !!! Only bad thing about it is I watched it in French. Usually I hate english movies translated but here, I didn't even care as the movie was so good !!

10/10 from me, I just fell in love with that movie

Sad thing though, there's so much suspense at the end you just wanna stab everyone in the room to death 3 hours of sheer epicness

I have yet to see the film, so take my words with a greain of salt... I remember when I forst read the Hobbit as a wee lad. I loved that book, it basically paved the way for my love of fantasy and everything of the ilk. I read the Lord of the Rings and was lost. I saw the movies and loved them. The only complaint I had about them was that they were not detailed enough and parts of the books were left out. A minor thing to complain about I know. Now when I heard the Hobbit was being made I was very thrilled about it and could not wait for it. But after I found out it was going to be a trilogy like the others I was hoping it was not true... mainly because there will be a 3 year wait for it to be finished. I would love to see the whole thing at once.

I just saw it twice and I have to say the at the heigh resolution is quite spectacular. It especially looks good with the 3D. I haven't yet seen it in the HFR, but Im sure it will be incredible. As for the movie its self, it is not always true to the book, all scenes were really well done, but some things did change the plot line of the Hobbit, because Peter is trying to incorporate parts of the appendixes of The Lord Of The Rings.

If your not a reader of the books then it won't matter, and we'll have to see about how those changes will play out in the next two films.

My personal opinion, Jackson will make, (with the brilliant mind that he has), make his decisions and changes work and connect with the two up coming films, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

HFR = horrible IMO
Movie = great

I'd really like to see the effect of putting a 2 frame long motion blur post process (24fps blur length) on the high frame rate. My hope is that it'd reduce the "cheap" look while still getting rid of the strobing.

The HFR was especially distracting at first; the movie lost the 'movie' feel that distinguished movies from television shows. Instead, the whole thing looked like a television documentary show (without the odd camera shots or impromptu problems or what have you). As far as the movie, it was somewhat enjoyable, though the problem that I have had with multi-film story lines is that I'll decide that there's a point when I feel that the movie 'should' naturally end, then I spend the rest of the film thinking 'Is it going to end here? What about now?'
