Some twisty puzzles have been around for quite some time as some of you may know, and the question came to me, have the old puzzles like Rubik's cubes and Pyraminx's made back in the 70s and 80s gone up in value?
My friends grandfather has a 1982 Rubik's Professor cube still in the box, is that worth anything?

The legitimate RubiksCubes were produced in quantities of millions. Several ended on junkyards others were slaughtered for building. Even without these there still so many around that it needs some additional decades for them to grow in value. My 2 cents.

I agree with Andreas, rarity is the key to value, and added value is condition and packaging. You can still pick up brand new, boxed 4x4x4 cubes for $10-20, so althoug it is nice to have it is not worth a great deal. Unless, of course, it is, for example, unique in some other way, such as a pre-production prototype or has a serial number of 00001 or is signed - you get the idea.

And even puzzles that are rare don't always sell for much. Recently I tried selling a Hello Kitty 2x2 and it just didn't meet my price point. I refused to give her away, so she went back under the bed. My point? It's a buyers market. What ever the buyer is willing to pay is what they will sell for.
