how about really strong magnets to repel each other?

I tried this idea with strong magnets, but it doesn't work properly.
In my first prototype I used d6x1 magnets, but magnets are not
so strong to repel each other and don't allow wolf-sheep situation.
More probably, larger magnets will work, but I haven't tried.
Anyway, there should be space for magnets and only 3D-modeling
will help. I think mechanical implementation is much easier
and better.
