Post subject: Dying plastics with Rit Dye question. Posted: Fri Oct 26, 2012 9:47 pm |

I've tried searching the forum for this but only found shape ways kinda stuff.
What I'm wondering is if it's possible to dye a white 3x3 black using RIT dye? More specifically, I want to dye a stickerless Dayan Zhanchi black. Is there any way to do this successfully?
I've dyed plenty of shape ways products black and have had great success, but it's nylon and can soak up water where regular plastics can't? I don't know, I've never tried and I don't want to ruin my puzzle trying so I thought I'd try here and ask. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I just finished dying my Dayan Guhong black. I used rit dye and acetone nail polish remover. It turned out nice, but I would recommend using pure acetone, the nail polish remover isn't that strong. It still worked, and after stickering, I am happy with the results. Also, MAKE SURE YOU USE RIT DYE!!! Don't use any other brand, it won't work.
