Gelatin Brain's 1.1.2 Is possibly my favorite puzzle there. It is a combination of a megaminx and a pyraminx crystal. Not to be confused with the Master Brilic. The Master Brilic has 2 layers- a pyraminx crystal layer, and a megaminx layer. 1.1.2 has 1 layer, which is in between a megaminx and a pyraminx crystal. It has

-Megaminx/ Pyraminx Crystal Corners
-Pyraminx Crystal Edges

-Starminx Points


I have asked a few of the top designers to try to design these puzzles. Basically, the pieces are too small, and would rotate/ wobble in place, and fall out.

But here's a question. What about this?

It looks to me as if these pieces are big enough, and could stay in place well.

Am I right? Is it realistic to make these puzzle using these curved cuts?

In my research consisting of about an hour I can say that the first one is very unlikely but the second one can work and has been implimented already http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=23233. If you're interested I have a rough design in Solidworks that I can share.

The real problem with the first one is the Megaminx and Pyraminx Crystal edge relations. I'll continue to work with it and report back when I learn more.

Edit: I'm back and I found that the problem is that for the Pyraminx Crystal edges to work the Megmainx edges either have to be completely hidden or so small that they couldn't be stickered and therefore useless. I would love for someone to prove me wrong though just because it seems like a really fun puzzle.

Well, the Master Starminx is not 1.1.4. The master starminx has 2 layers, one megaminx, and one starminx. 1.1.4 has 1 layer, in between pyraminx crystal and starminx.

I was wondering if this was possible to make by opening a pyraminx crystal to make a multidodecahedron style puzzle, and sticker the inner megaminx.
It wouldn't be very stable, but possible (I think).

You would have to cut way down on the pyraminx crystal edges, and they would be so small that they would fall into the puzzle (similar to what happens on a loose C4Y teraminx).
