And another new puzzle for today:

SPLIT CORNER-TURNING RHOMBIC-DODECAHEDRON
shorter version: Split CT RD or “Olivér’s split Diamond”
Idea:
The first idea comes at 2010 when there was a trend among the puzzle builders to put adons on puzzles. The idea comes from one of the easiest puzzle the 1x2x3 cuboid. It has grooved center pieces, like the adons on this puzzle.
Of course the first puzzle from this kind was a non-split one, where there where 4 pieces on each side of the puzzle, and not split to halves to 8 piece/side like in this puzzle. That is the “simple” Corner-Turning Rhombic-Dodecahedron!
How it’s made?
When I designed the model in 2D at 2010 I had no skills for 3D designs. So I could not make it by myself. After 2 years about a month ago at the Hungarian Open I’ve met with Ádam Laczó, who helped me with the 3D design.
After the 3D model was ready, I have upload it to Shapeways and ordered a copy from the adon pieces.
They where pained with cloth paint. (3 days of experimenting and testing, and boiling…)
The adon pieces where glued with superglue, to a mini EastSheen 2x2x2 cube what I used as a core.
I’ve brake the puzzle in, because it was a bit stiff at first try.
The stickers where made by myself.
