This is my latest puzzle and it is pretty obvious what it is. It is a Void Starball! I always wanted to make a void starminx so I used the same mechanism that is in Oskar's Minimal Twist. It was really difficult to dye and assemble! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

That's really impressive! You did a great job dyeing those pieces. I can't imagine how much work and messy (and how costly) that must have been.

Also, can you say a bit more about how the mechanism works? It's obviously some sort of rail + groove system but a picture or two would make things a lot more clear.

Could this mechanism be used to create something like a spherical Big Chop?

Did you buy twelve different coloured RIT dyes, or did you create some colours by mixing two or more dyes?

Very nice! And the turning is much better than I expected it might be.

The shape of each color section reminds me of sakura blossoms.

Very pretty and very impressive. I too would encourrage you to put this on Shapeways. Just highlight the issues and be honest and I don't think you should have too much to worry about.

May I ask if you sealed the surface with anything? I'd be a bit worried that the black would rub off on the other colors over time and have an impact on the over all appearance.

Huh?? I'd much rather see something available with a note explaining the limitations so an interested buyer can decide for themselves.

Due to the shape of the pieces this puzzle would tumble like a dream. I'll definitely buy it if the cost is reasonable. Unless I can find a way to tumble it without turning the pieces black I'd have to pay Oliver to make a sticker template.

thanks for all the comments! first, I did not coat the sides with anythign so it may get a bit dirty over time and second I will probably try to offer it in my shapeways shop but be warned the puzzle doesnt have much surface are on the glue joints so it might be fragile at each glue point.

As soon as I saw that on my Youtube subscriptions tap, I felt kind of duty to tell you this is absolutely awesome.
