I am planning on buying a 4x4 Ghost Hand, QJ Pyraminx, and a MF8 Square-1. Do you think these are good puzzles? I am planning on getting white versions of each by the way.

There are plenty of reviews on YouTube; for these sorts of questions it might be worth looking their for your answers.

I actually just got 4x4 lanlan and QJ Pyraminx. No square-1 yet. Wait until I get better at those two puzzles.

For the pyraminx, go with mefferts pyraminx II, or the new meffers speedcubing pyraminx.

In this case the LanLan 4x4x4 is a variant of the sphere core Rubik's mechanism (Sebesteny) which had a patent that expired almost ten years ago. There are KO 4x4x4s that use parts of the patented Verdes mechanism but the LanLan 4x4x4 is not one of them. Dave

Can you explain further why the Lanlan 4x4 is not a KO? They don't have patents but neither does Tony, yet when Tony asks for protection( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6896) he gets it. When Rubik's asks for protection( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23568) nothing much happens. Paragraphs one and two of the KO policy sure seem to indicate that the Lanlan 4x4 is a KO. "All puzzles currently in production by their rightful owners are protected."

How does buying a supposed KO hurt a company that does not make a 4x4?

Rocketman248 wrote: How does buying a supposed KO hurt a company that does not make a 4x4? This subject has been covered many times before. Very simply, it harms future potential sales by the rightful and legal owner who spent time and money developing the idea or concept and paid for worldwide protection. In some cases it will actually prevent them from going ahead with manufacture since the KO companies jumped in and stole the majority of potential sales. The V-Cube situation is somewhat unusual since a whole series of similar puzzles (2x2x2 to 11x11x11) were designed and protected in one go. It was however not practical or financially viable to manufacture them all in one go. This then leaves the uneasy situation of a few protected unmade highly sort after puzzles.
