Seriously. Like, way the heck more. Dozens more. Hundreds more.

I wish I could contribute some myself but that's not currently an option for me. :(

Acknowledged.
As the crowd might already have guessed it is not the unwillingness of me which prevents that but the lack submitted images.
As I have said on several ocassions: I will add any contribution which makes sense for the museum.
Pictures of mechanisms definitely make sense.

Now that we are discussing changes to the museum, I have to ask a question. Why is there no link to the forum thread where the puzzle was released (this of course only applies to custom puzzles). Because it would be a lot of work, possibly too much, to edit every single custom puzzles museum page, could you/we at least put it in new puzzles museum pages?

If this is not possible, could anyone be so kind to explain why?

Several reasons:
  • A lot of work.
  • There is no way to add links before a new entry is created. That means an additional step of work. See the next point.
  • Usually I enter descriptions, dates, etc. several days before entering a new puzzle, because in the meantime the image editing has to be done. It prooved to be more efficient to do things (entering 10-20 descriptions, editing ca. 50 images, accepting and uploading everything) in batches.
  • I hate to say that but in my perception this holds true: Many original threads do not contain much information beyond inventor and year. This holds true even for my inventions in many cases.
  • The museum was created before a time when half of its entries were presented on the accompanied forum.

In the past 1.5 years there were 3 (!) submissions for new links and all were gladly accepted by me.
If anybody wants to add more links to existing entries (see #2 again for reference) please feel free. I will accept all these submissions after checking them.

Maybe if Sandy can get rid of the hindrance in #2 I will do it by myself for new entries.

One last note:
Sometimes I may sound agressively unhelpful on suggestions but I do not get paid for maintaining the museum.

Yes gentlemen, stand up and be counted! It's your museum as well.

And you have done an amazing amount of work since you took over as curator.

Jared:
Do you talk about images within the existing entries?
Or about the section "mechanism pictures"?

For everyone who wants to contribute:
The way to add mechanism pictures to existing entries goes like this:
1. Find the entry in the museum. (it should be up to date except the newest puzzles)
2. Hit "modify this item" at the bottom of the entry.
3. Add the captions for the new images.
4. Send the images to museum@twistypuzzles.com
Alternative for step 4: Point me towards copyright-free images which serve the same purpose.
If you want to accelerate the process photograph the puzzles with a background so white, smooth and shadowless you can.

No mechanism pictures in the museum without contributions!

I meant for the mechanism section of the museum. Ideally if there are a lot of puzzles which have the same mechanism, then the museum group page for those puzzles could have a link to the appropriate mechanism pictures or just include the mechanism item in the group itself. But when a puzzle has a unique mechanism perhaps pictures could go with the item.

All the items in the section "mechanism pictures" have a meaningful value for mechanism.
For example: If you search for all puzzles with mechanism="Dogic"
http://twistypuzzles.com/cgi-bin/pdb-se ... mec&key=18
the entry from "mechanism pictures" is included.

For non common "modding target" as
Mosaic Cube and
Ufo some images are included.

What you suggest is already there just not for all the main puzzles and mechanism.

@E-Cubes Designer X:
I want to come back to your kind offer.
I think we should begin with Master Skewb, Pyraminx Crystal and Megaminx.
For meaningful entries please photograph the puzzles
Opened, half disassembled and completely disassembled.
Please note that editing such images consumes a lot of time. Therefore:

I won't have internet for a few weeks but I offer services for the Fangshi 54.6, Face Turning Octahedron, 4x4x4 mixup plus, Gear Octahedron, and a few other, more common puzzles.

Okay guys. The first entry is under way via private communication.
@TheCubingKyle
Fangshi 54.6 and Gear Octahedron are specific puzzle.
Images of them belong into their specific entries but would still be welcome.
Images of the Face Turning Octahedron deserve their own entry. Therefore they are welcome too.
