KozehCubes wrote: Sorry I've only recently started cubing, can someone explain the concept of all the different planets to me please?... Hi KozehCubes, `8 Planets` were first introduced with the 3x3x3 Crazy Plus series by MF8 + Dayan, they were THE 8 possible variants of that series. Subsequently when a series of puzzles have been produced where a number of variants have been possible it seems 8 Planets has been sentimentally a good number. For example, a selection of possible variants were made for the Crazy Megaminx, there were 9 Tetrahedrons and 0012 (Pluto ) was left out, and with the Bermudas many other variants were possible (and the shift was made from Circle type puzzles), now with the Pentahedrons some variants have been left out and some NON-Crazy versions have been included in the PLANET Series. I guess in the end it's come to mean `a good selection of the possible variants chosen by the manufacturer`. Cheers, Burgo.

Hi, My experience with the Pentaahedron Jupiter: After 4-5 solves: The purple and yellow center was fixed (unbandaged). Now, only purple is fixed. The yellow center is broken. Attachment:

I loosed the screw and glued the plastic. I hope that this will hold.
rline: Today I got the 8 planets and the crazy tet uranus. I lubricated all puzzles. Please twist the faces carefully. Cheers, Andrea

Apart from the issue you raised, what do the puzzles feel like? Do they seem good quality or cheap plastic? Are they nice puzzles to use?

Hi rline,
in my opinion the puzzles are very beautifull. You must twist the faces very accurate. Perhaps I make a solution video of the jupiter, if the glued center holds. On the faces with unbandaged circle you may not give pressure to the edges. Perhaps the Jupiter is the easiest prism and not very different from standart.
Cheers, Andrea

Good news I just took a circle one apart and the piece that determines the bandaging is dual purpose. You can turn any circle variant into any other circle variant by flipping around a piece on the inside. This is a very smart design. I don't know if they did it for us (their customers) or for themselves to cut down on mold costs but either way, it benefits us .

That's great! Is it true for all the circles or just top/bottom or side circles? I might buy one in that case

Quick question: is the 5 layer super pentahedron supposed to have the 3 side faces all unbandaged (0) faces? Mine has two unbandaged and one bandaged, but that's wrong, right?

It's quick, simple and can be seen at http://youtu.be/HFHtAaSfSCoAlso, I'm still interested in knowing if anyone alive has any information on whether the super 5-layer pentahedron is supposed to have all unbandaged side faces, or if the blue face is supposed to be bandaged? Grigr, you posted the original picture of the crazy pentahedrons. Do you have any info?

I also flipped the internal center piece around to correct this.

I bought mine as a set named " Pentahedron Puzzle - 3 Special Version Set" This is what I got: As everybody else I have got the 5 layer Circle Pentahedron with a bandaged white face. I think they have done this intentionally. I have not seen any contradicting specification. I believe that with a bandaged white face it is a bit more of a challenge (similar to the 3 layer planet Saturn). With all circle faces unbandaged it is almost identical to the 5 layer without circles and all three provide more or less the same challenge. Nice that it is so easy to change them, though

The thin layers on black has side stickers while on coloured ones sides of thin layers are all of the same colour.
