The best of luck to you Katniss. It fills me with joy that we live in a world where most people accept other people for who they are. I do, and I'd like to think everyone I know does.

And may I say, Katniss is a great name!

I deliberately avoided this thread for a few days and have only just read through it. Sorry for being off topic but I am now fascinated by the removed parts.
Quote:
Do you think [removed] is wrong? What about [removed]? How about [removed]?

It feels like a bizarre test trying to work them out.
And to answer I would say as long as the acts are between consenting adults and they have no detrimental affect to anyone else they are fine.

I don't know anything about this or even if you can watch it. It's on UK tv tonight (12th June) at 11.05pm BST channel 4.

I know this thread is old, but I felt the need to say my opinion.
I am currently going into 8th grade. In my town, I do not know any gay, bi, or transexuals. However, when I went to my summer school program at Exeter Academy this summer, I noticed that people were talking about there sexuality, and saying if they were gay, bi, or trans, and everyone was very accepting.
It was almost(and I stres, almost) hard for me to feel the same way. I was just not used to it.

I am very comfortable with my sexuality. I am straight, and that is fine for me.
And I am very indifferent to others. You are gay? Ok. You are trans? Fine by me.

I also recognize the courage it takes to come out. This is one of the reasons I was so shocked when I got to Exeter.

Katniss, I applaud you for your strength.

But theres a issue here.
(I know that not everyone will agree with me here, but for the sake of argument, let's say that being gay or trans is absolutely fine, as I believe.)
There is nothing wrong with being gay or trans. But let's think of what they have to deal with because of society:
-Hatred
-Bullying
-Violence
-Not being accepted
-Etc
If you are to tell a person that gay is okay, and that there is nothing wrong with it, the person might take that and think, "Oh, being gay is good! I should be gay!"
Personally, I think being gay is not 'good' or 'bad', I think it is just the way some people are.
But back to the dilema- If a person thinks that they should be gay for a reason that is not their own sexuality, that is a lot of very hard troubles to go through.
I don't think I'm articulating this right....
What I'm trying to say is that while there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay (in my opinion), it is not something that I would wish upon someone these days. The only reason is that they would have a much harder life than a straight person.
If I offended anyone, I am profoundly sorry.
Also, anytime I say "gay", think "gay or trans".

-Doug

That may well be true but people don't decide to be gay any more than you decided not to be. That's what makes prejudice against sexually orientated minorities so much worse in my opinion. They never had the choice any more than a black guy had the choice to be black.

Agreed. I actually know people who think that being gay is a choice. When I try to convince them wrong, they are very stubborn.
It boggles me how someone could be so ignorant and defiant.
